You can drink ginger tea a few times a day. Alternatively, you can chew on 3 or 4 raw ginger slices several times a day.

Things you will need:

Ginger (natural decongestant) – 6 or 7 pieces
Black peppercorns (helps fight infection) – 1 teaspoon
Honey (contains antiseptic properties) – 1 tablespoon
Water – 2 cups

1. Heat water in a Pan

Pour 2 cups of water into a pan.
Turn on the heat.

2. Throw in Ginger chunks and peppercorns

After the water starts to simmer, throw 6 or 7 ginger chunks into the water.
Add one teaspoon of black peppercorns as well.

3. Cover, boil and simmer

Cover the pan with the lid.
Allow the water to boil for 1 minute.
Lower the temperature and allow it to simmer for 5 to 7 minutes. You will observe the color of the water changing to pale yellow.
For a stronger flavor, simmer for 15 to 20 minutes or more, and use more ginger slices.

4.Strain the Tea

Strain the tea into a cup to remove the ginger pieces and peppercorns.
Be careful while straining, as the steam can be extremely hot and can burn you.

5. Add sweetener

Finally, add in 1 tablespoon of honey.
Mix ans sip the tea

6. Drink your tea in small sips while it is still hot to ease your congestion instantly.
Consume 2 to 3 ginger infusions each day to de-congest your phlegm.



METHOD NUMBER TWO:


USE STEAM

Steaming is another effective treatment to loosen up mucus and phlegm in your throat.

Breathing in steam allows the vapors to travel down your throat and loosen up clogged mucus,  thus providing instant relief. Infusing the water with herbs adds additional healing effects.

You will need the Following:
Water (boiling) (helps loosen clogged mucus) – 4 to 5 cups
Rosemary (contains antiseptic properties) – ½ teaspoon
Thyme (helps reduce excess mucus) – ½ teaspoon

1. Add herbs to boiling water

Pour 4 to 5 cups of hot water into a bowl. Make sure the water is boiling.
Add ½ teaspoon each of dried rosemary and thyme.

2. Inhale the steam

Drape a towel over your head to trap as much steam as possible.
Lean over the bowl of hot water so that the steam directly hits your face.

3. Breathe in the vapors for up to 10 minutes to get instant result.
